West Side Story
Two teenage gangs, the Jets and the Sharks, struggle for control of the neighborhood. The police chase the Sharks off, and then the Jets plan how they can assure their continued dominance of the street. Riff wants to convince his friend and former member of the Jets, Tony, to meet the Jets at the dance, but some of the Jets are unsure of his loyalty. Riff meets Tony while he's working at Doc's Drugstore to persuade him to come. Loyal to Riff, Tony agrees.Maria works in a bridal shop with Anita. Maria has just arrived from Puerto Rico, and her family has selected Chino, a member of the Sharks, to be her future husband. At the dance, after introductions, soon a challenge dance is called, during which Tony and Maria see each other across the room and are drawn to each other; they dance together, fall in love, and kiss when an enraged Bernardo pulls his sister from Tony's arms and sends her home. Tony suggests a fair fight, which the leaders agree to, despite the other members' protests. Bernardo believes that he will fight Tony, but must settle for fighting Diesel instead. She asks Tony to stop the fight, which he agrees to do. The gangs meet each other under the highway, Tony arrives and tries to stop the rumble. When Bernardo pushes Tony, Riff punches him in Tony's defense. The two draw their switchblades and get in a knife fight. Bernardo stabs Riff. Tony then kills Bernardo in a fit of rage. The two gangs then go into a free-for-all. The sound of approaching sirens is heard, and everyone scatters, except Tony, who stands in shock at what he has done. Only the bodies of Riff and Bernardo are still there. Maria has not heard the news and daydreams happily about seeing Tony. Just then, Chino brings the news that Tony has killed Bernardo. Tony arrives to see Maria, and in a fit of rage she throws her fists at him until he finally calms her down and they plan to run away together. They have sex. The Jets make Action leader of the gang. Chino is gonna kill Tony with a gun. In her anger, Anita tells the Jets that Bernardo was right about them, and then claims that Chino has killed Maria in jealousy. Doc relates the news to Tony, who has been dreaming of heading to the countryside to have children with Maria. Feeling there is no longer anything to live for, Tony leaves to find Chino, begging for him to die as well. Just as Tony sees Maria alive, Chino arrives and shoots Tony. The Jets, Sharks, and adults flock around the lovers. Maria holds Tony in her arms as he dies. Angry at the death of another friend, the Jets move towards the Sharks but Maria takes Chino's gun and tells everyone that hatred is what killed Tony and the others, and now she can kill, because now she hates, too. However, she is unable to bring herself to fire the gun and collapses in her grief, ending the cycle of violence. Gradually, all the members of both gangs assemble on either side of Tony's body, suggesting that the feud is over.

Nonverbal Communication
MR BEAN
The Test
In the Mr. Bean movies there is a lot of nonverbal communication. He goes to town to take a test in a classroom full of people so he doesnt want to talk. He tries to cheat on the test that he "studied" for. But so it turns out he studied for the wrong subject, not knowing that there was two seperate tests. One for Calculas, and one for Trigonometry. He cannot talk so he tries to communicate with the man sitting next to him but the man wont let him cheat so he gets flustered. There are different tests and they cant say anything so they cant tell that there are two test.
The Beach
Mr. Bean goes to the beach and tries to change without getting naked on the shore but there is a man who is watching him so he changes to his speedo somehow but turns out the man was blind the whole time.
The Church
Mr Bean goes to church and has to sneeze and he cant find a tissue so he uses the inside of his pocket. He wants to eat a piece of candy so he tries to put it in his mouth without anyone seeing but a man next to him keeps looking at him. He drops the candy and picks it up and as he tries to put it in his mouth then the man looks at him he accidentally puts it in his snottty pocket.
The Credit Card
Mr. Bean sees a man on the street playing a saxaphone and he wants to give him money but all he has is a high dollar bill. He doesnt want to give him the whole bill so he dances on the street corner for a second and gets a quarter from an old lady and gives it to the man. Then he takes a trip to the mall. He almost sufficates in the perfume isle. And then he goes to the clothing department and finds a towel that would look good as a dress on him. He also finds a knife to peal his potato with and a pan to put his fish in. Then he goes to pay for his items and a man puts Mr. Bean's credit card in his back pocket and Mr. Bean tries to get it out of the mans pocket and his hand gets stuck and the man goes to the bathroom with Mr. Beans hand in his back pocket where the man finds Mr. Bean in the stall with him. He next goes to a resturaunt and orders the steak tar tar and doesnt like it so he finds different spots to hide the food. Then the waiter walks by and spills the food and Mr. Bean makes it look like the waiter made the food go in those places.
The Queen
Mr.Bean is waiting to meet Queen Elizabeth II. He manages to rectify most of these problems to his satisfaction but when he uses his zipper to clean his fingernail, the zipper gets stuck and he has his finger sticking out of it. But he only manages to force it back up just before he meets the Queen. As he bows Mr. Bean accidentally headbutts the Queen. Mr. Bean makes a run for it.
The Pool
Mr Bean goes to the pool and tries to get on the slide but he mean lifegaurd wont let him. So he figures he will try the diving board but he forgets that he scared of hights. Two kids get in line behind him so now he must get up the courage to go so he hangs off the edge of the pool and gets kicked off. When he lands in the pool his trunks come off and he doesnt get them back.
Lunch
Mr. Bean goes to the park to have lunch. He makes himself a sandwich. Eventually, however, the pepper makes him sneeze and he drops the sandwich. The man next to him offers Mr. Bean half of his own sandwich, which Mr. Bean accepts.
Movies
Mr. Bean goes to see a horror film with his girlfriend. He buys himself a giant popcorn tub, and her a small one, even stealing from hers but slapping her hand when she tries to do the same. Before the film, he teases her and scares her, spills popcorn and interrupts the other people there. He then gets scared by the movie and tries to avoid watching it. After the film, as the two of them leave, his girlfriend puts her coat over her body and Mr. Bean shakes one of her coat's sleeves, under the impression that her hands have been amputated, making them both jump.

UNIFORMS
School uniforms are a very bad idea, and that is a fact. Uniforms wont let you express your personality such as emos, cowboys, gangsters and jocs. Everyone has their own style and should be able to express it. This is why they should be aloud to do so.
Uniforms are very uncomfortable and make school painful as well as boring. School is not the most exciting place to be in the world for the average teenager. My question is why make school even more dreadful by having a dresscode. This can also be just another thing for a kid to get in trouble for if they somehow accidentally screw up the uniform. And not all girls are fond of wearing skirts as well as guys wearing slacks or cacky pants.
Say you are the principal of a school, and you make your students wear uniforms, your gonna be hearing alot of noise from students and parents about the inconvenience of them. The feedback that you get from the students wont be very pleasent. Parents will also think they have a lot of knowledge in the field of experience but only you know whats right for your school. With the addition of uniforms, the kinesics of the school could go from bad to worse.
Along with being uncomfortable and a pain to keep up with, uniforms could also go against a religion. Parents could also infer that you dont care about religion. An example of this would be, if the girls were forced to wear pants, when Penicostal girls are only aloud to wear dresses. This could turn into a very bad ordeal, seeing as schools are supposed to have anything to do with religion.
To sum up the essay, schools should not have uniforms. Because of the trouble of keeping up with them, complaints, and the religion clashes. There would be nothing but trouble to come of it.

iPod banning
who and what- schools from all over the country are trying to get ipods banned because of students cheating
when and where- at school, during the test, students across the country are putting notes on their ipods to have answers for the test.
why- because of the banning of cellular devices, students that arent confident in their test taking abilities are trying to find new ways to cheat.
in my opinion- in my opinion, the ipods should not be banned because of the stress that music takes away for some students. the students that cheat on the test will eventually find another way of cheating. there are too many students to watch at one time so cheating can very rarely be stopped. students should have to show the teachers the "notes" section of their ipods to show that there are nothing that can help them cheat. just music.

Eli Manning Book Report
This book is a amazing. It is a very interesting biography of the New York Giants quarterback, Eli Manning.
This biography tells the life of the former Ole Miss collegiate player who has had a very amazing life. His father was a quarterback for the New Orleans Saints and his brother Peyton won the Superbowl two years ago with the Indianapolis Colts. It has explained the football filled life as the brother and son of the great National Football League quarterbacks. This book explains the struggles he has also had. These struggles go from almost failing first grade because he couldn't read, to getting a DUI(driving under the influence) in college. This biography includes the in-game strategy and games type situations that actually happends to Eli and his Ole Miss and New York Giants teammates. In my opinion, the best part in this book is when Eli and the New York Giants win the Superbowl.
Like I said in the beginning, I love this book. It is my favorite book I have read this semester. I recommend this book to anyone that is remotely interested in the game of football.

salem witch trials
A small girl fell sick in 1692. Her “fitts”—convulsions, contortions, and outbursts of gibberish—baffled everyone. Other girls soon manifested the same symptoms. Their doctor could suggest but one cause. Witchcraft.
That grim diagnosis launched a Puritan inquisition that took 25 lives, filled prisons with innocent people, and frayed the soul of a Massachusetts community called Salem.
This was just the begining of what is known as the Salem Witch Trials. The articles about these so called "trials" were not very intresting to me because I dont believe in witchcraft. But I was very surprised by the reactions of my classmates to the assignments. Some of them were surprised and acted surprised by the acts of the village people of 1692. Some the students were scared that this actually happened and that it could happen again. After reading this story, I was happy that this is no longer a problem, or otherwise I would have to put a wooping on one of those witches and beat the "devil" out of them.

first quarter reflect
In the first quarter of this school year, I have grown alot as a reader. I have learned to read text deeply and actually figure out what it is saying, rather than just looking at it. A reading journal helps me think about what I have read and actually learn it. I have also grown as a writer. We have learned about sentence structure and we have also learned about muscle verbs. I need to focus on liking to write. I have learned to create a blog. I have not grown very much as a collaborator. I am also able to carry on a good discussion with others. I hope to learn alot about conjunctions next quarter.
